Well – that went well!
The service plan for January and February looked great on paper – but when Lockdown 3 was announced, we had serious thoughts about what we should be doing.
The regulations continued to allow services to take place, though with a fairly strong hint from the House of Bishops that “permission to proceed does not mean instruction to proceed”. Bearing in mind the highly contagious nature of the new virus strains – and the fact that many of our congregation are either shielding or in the more vulnerable groups, the PCC (Church Council) decided that, with heavy hearts, we needed to close our doors again and thus encourage our members to Stay Home; Protect the NHS; Save Lives
In the same vein, rather than risk the health of our dedicated band of clock winders – as well as seeming to advertise “business as usual”, the St Andrew’s clock has been stopped. We’ll restart it just as soon as possible as, indeed, we will keep monitoring the situation and open for services when we can.
In the meantime, there will be regular services on Sunday mornings via Zoom. If you want to join in, contact Revd Julie for the details
